Gary Vaughan has shown a passion for helping business owners through his work in economic development and working with small to medium businesses, counseling them to sustainability and growth. His management experience is in several industries including; retail, petroleum, manufacturing, academia, and not-for-profit. Gary has had direct responsibility in the areas of financials, administration, human resources, operations, and safety compliance.
He is currently a Lecturer of Economics and the Coordinator of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Interdisciplinary Area, www.go.lawrence.edu/innovation at Lawrence University located in Appleton, WI.
Gary launched Guident Business Solutions, LLC, www.guidentbusiness.com a management and consulting firm in 2009 to present. He specializes in organizations of less than $15MM in revenues and under 50 employees where he works exclusively with business owners to drive up owner’s equity.
He is past-president of the Wisconsin Academy of Global Education and Training (WAGET) www.waget.org a non-profit organization headquartered in Milwaukee and dedicated to international youth exchanges, activities, projects and educational services in the areas of culture, conservation, and commerce. WAGET’s current initiative is teaching financial literacy to middle and high school students’ in inner-city Milwaukee.
Gary is a member of the board of directors for the Fox Cities Chamber of Commerce www.foxcitieschamber.org and also sits on their finance committee. He is an active board member of the Self Employment in the Arts www.selfemploymentinthearts.org organization headquartered in the Chicago area and often speaks at their annual conference. Gary is a member of the advisory board for the Batterman School of Business at Concordia University Wisconsin www.cuw.edu in Mequon, WI where he has taught in their undergrad and graduate programs since 2003.
Gary has a Master of Science degree in Management and Organizational Behavior from Silver Lake College, Wisconsin. He earned a Bachelor of Liberal Studies degree with a Business Administration minor from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. He has held the Professional in Human Resources (PHR) Certification through the Society for Human Resource Management.
Gary and his wife Sharon have two grown children with three grandchildren and have lived in the Greater Fox Valley area since 1989.
