Gary Vaughan has shown a passion for helping business owners through his work in economic development and working with small to medium businesses, coaching them to sustainability and growth. His management experience is in several industries including retail, petroleum, manufacturing, academia, and not-for-profit. Gary has had direct responsibility in the areas of financials, administration, human resources, operations, and safety compliance.
Gary joined the faculty at Lawrence University, Appleton, WI in 2009 and is currently a Lecturer of Economics and the Coordinator of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Interdisciplinary Area, www.go.lawrence.edu/innovation.
Gary launched Guident Business Solutions, LLC, www.guidentbusiness.com a management and consulting firm in 2009 to present. He specializes in organizations of less than $50MM in revenues where he works exclusively with business owners and their executive team on analysis of financial statements, strategic management, and increasing owner’s equity. Gary offers several educational workshops on financial literacy for key employees and more advanced financial workshops for management. He is an active speaker at chamber events and association conferences.
He is currently an advisor to the Wisconsin Academy of Global Education and Training (WAGET) www.waget.net a non-profit organization headquartered in Milwaukee and dedicated to providing cultural, academic, career, and leadership programs for clients around the world.
Gary has served as a board member of the Fox Cities Chamber of Commerce 2015-2021 www.foxcitieschamber.org, and a member of the advisory board for the Batterman School of Business at Concordia University Wisconsin 2012-2022 www.cuw.edu in Mequon, WI where he has taught in their undergrad and graduate programs from 2003 to 2016.
He is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management since 1998 and has held the Professional in Human Resources Certification through SHRM. Gary has a Master of Science degree in Management and Organizational Behavior from Silver Lake College of the Holy Family, Wisconsin. He earned a Bachelor of Liberal Studies degree with a Business Administration minor from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. Gary and his wife Sharon have lived in the Fox Valley area since 1989.
